Luke Flores came to Northwestern University in 2004 after graduating with highest honors from the University of Texas – San Antonio.  He joined the Disterhoft lab as a graduate student in 2005 and began researching the role of the basal ganglia in trace eyeblink conditioning.

During his tenure in the lab, he was awarded the prestigious National Research Service Award (NRSA) and was a trainee on the Neurobiology of Information Storage Training Program.

His work has been published in the Journal of Neuroscience and Journal of Neurophysiology.  In addition to his research, he served as a mentor in the Collaborative Learning and Integrated Mentoring in the Biosciences (CLIMB) program, a Teaching Assistant Fellow and Teaching Consultant for the Searle Center for Teaching Excellence, and was recently appointed the Co-Director for the BioEXCEL Program at Northwestern University.

Luke Flores graduated in June of 2011 and was hooded by his mentor, John Disterhoft.  He is currently the director of BioExcel and ChemExcel Program at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.
